Unable to login when connected wth ethernet

When I try to log in with the Ethernet cable connected I receive an error
message which reads; Your logon has been disabled. Please contact your system
administrator. But if I disconnect the cable it logs in just fine. I connect
to the internet through a network. The only way to logon to the computer is
to disconnect the network cable. I'm afraid to connect wirelessly because I
don't want to have to turn off my wireless card just to turn on the computer.
Do you know why this is happening? Please help as this is an extreme
annoyance.

After I logon to the computer I can connect to the network. It is only an
issue when I log onto the computer. It has always happened this way. Thanks
ahead of time for any knowledge, help, and comments you can provide. -Chris

Have you spoken to your network admins about this?

From what you've written, it sounds like the network login is disabled, but
you are able to logon locally and then connect. This indicates a problem
with the userprofile stored at the server level.

My concern is not with the network as much as the fact that I cannot log onto
my computer. When I turn the computer on and try to log onto windows I get
the error message. The network admins here are not the most computer
literate nor do they wish to resolve the issue. They did not even know how
to adjust the low light on someones screen. Thanks for your help.

Hi,

The problem though, is that the issue lies at the network level. It's most
probably not something wrong with your machine, but rather the
authentication used to access the userprofile at the network level. When you
disconnect the ethernet and logon, you are logging into a local profile, not
the network one, which is why it's successful. This indicates that there's
likely nothing wrong with the machine.

Why is it then that I can access the network once the machine is on. I can
go online and check my email ect... Thanks again for all your help

Because you are still logged into the local account and then will be using
network resources.
