I purchased a computer from a now out-of-business company (that I used to work for). I wanted to re-name the computer and use it on a home network/workgroup that I have set up. Therefore, I

a) logged in under my account name (which has admin privileges) and I proceeded to change the computer name from LT-DCampbell to LT-TCampbell

b) I removed the 'Primary DNS Suffix of this Computer'

c) I removed the computer from the domain (using the Administrator ID and password) and I assigned a workgroup instead.

after making these changes, i was told to re-start the computer for the changes to take affect. Unfortunately, I can not login to XP now. I have tried both my ID and password and the Administrator ID and password. the sign in screen only now allows for ID and password. There is no opportunity to input a domain. Have I messed up XP to the point that I need to re-load it from scratch

Thanks for any ideas

You probably removed it from the domain logged in as the Admin for the
domain. You need the local administrator name and password. There are apps
on the net that reset the password, and I know I saw someone reference a MS
Knowledge base article about this topic as well... Check out MS's
knowledgebase and then google for an app... If all else fails, reinstall,
it's probably a good idea anyway to speed up the system.
