Unable to install Windows Vista upgrade

I am trying to upgrade my Windows XP to Windows Vista Ultimate.

When I say upgrade, I want to do a clean install as I have accumulated that
much rubbish it would be nice to have a fresh start.

I use the onboard ICH7 Intel Raid controller and my two disks are configured
in a Raid 0 configuration with 2 partitions (one for OS one for Data) so my
plan is to format the first partition and install Vista where XP used to be
(The guide that comes with Vista says I can do this)

HOWEVER, when I boot from the DVD it says Windows is copying files (or
similar) and the progress bar goes through to the end, BUT when it reaches
the end a very feint "(c) Microsoft Corporation" appears in feint white text
on a black background and the system seems to hang.

I have also tried to install from Windows XP, this copies all the files and
reboots but when the PC restarts I get the same black screen with the faded
(c) Microsoft Corporation text - the PC then hangs.

I have tried updating the BIOS and the Firmware for my CD/DVD ROM and still
the same problem.

My hardware is:

Elite Motherboard 82945P - ECS PF5 Extreme v1.0a
NVdia GeForce 7600GT
2 x Maxstor 6B200M0 HDD (200GB each)
Philips DVD RW 416
D-Link Air Plus DWL-G520 wireless
2 x 1GB PC2-4300 240 pin 533 MHz DDr2 Dimm (128x64)

Can anyone offer any suggestions please?

Thanks in advance.

Enter into the RAID config utility during boot process (for me its Ctrl +
n), you should see instructions on your screen.
Once there, clear data.
You don't need to rebuild the array, just clear data.

Back Up your DATA first !!!

Update:

It turns it out that it was my Hauppage TV Tuner card that wasn't happy,
removed it and everything worked fine. A bit random but a solution is a
solution!
