Unable to install SP2

I have Windows Xp Pro installed on my compaq laptop.
During installation process get error message "Unable to
install sp2 as Windows build required is version 2600.

I have Win Xp Pro (Build 2505). How do i upgrade to
v2600? and than instal SP2.
Will i have any problems after sp2 has been installed.

Build 2505 is Windows XP Release Candidate 1.
SP-2 will not install on the Release Candidates or other Beta's.
All licenses for the Release Candidates and other Beta's for windows
XP expired more than two years ago with the release of Windows XP.
You need to buy a legal version of Windows XP.
