Unable to install itunes/quicktime on XP home

I am unable to install/reinstall itunes/quicktime. I was able to use
itunes untill a few days ago but am unsure what has changed since then.
I think I do recall installing quicktime alternative, which I have
already uninstalled.

The itunes portion installs without issue. I get the following message
when QuickTime tries to load"QuickTime Installation Failed" "Error
Code -3".

I have tried to delete the contents of the Temp directory without
sucess.

Any help would be appreciated.

Try to re-download the whole iTunes/Quicktime package, it could be a
corrupted download. I would sometimes have the same problem.

Plato's short but concise answer helped me resolve the issue. Apple had
a list of troubleshooting steps that I did not complete prior to
posting here.

I downloaded a installer utility cleanup from MS. I then installed
Quicktime as a standalone. BTW Itunes would not open as QT was corrupt
and could not be installed. Quicktime was the app that was giving me
issue on the install.

I am also experiencing similar problems, but can't locate anything called
anything like "Installer utility cleanup" from MS in the Downloads section of
the website. I did find a registry cleaner, but only for Win2K. Can you
provide the link from which you found the utility?
