Unable To Install Internet Explorer Release 6

[Need Help]

THE PROBLEM
I am unable to install Microsoft's Internet Explorer
Release 6.

SYSTEM RUNNING
I am currently running Windows ME, Release 4.90.3000.

INTERNET EXPLORER RELEASE
I am running Windows Internet Explorer, Release
5.50.4134.0100

SYMTEMS OF THE PROBLEM
I am able to download the code from Microsoft's web page
and from
www.download.com, but when I get to the installation
process,
I choose the option "Typical Set Of Components", it
proceeds to install and the "Progress" screen
shows "Instaling Components" and shows that we get to
installing 3% of the program, and it jumps immediately to
74% and stops installing. It then gives the
message: "Setup was unable to install the components.
Please close all applications and try running setup
again". I have done so and it gives the same result.

I have tried to install the product using all combinations
of options but always get the same result.

Can anyone please help me. Thank you in advance.

Try this:

Go to My Computer - Tools - Folder Options - View:
- Select "Show hidden files and folders", click Apply - OK

Create a folder named "Old uninstall".

Go to folder C:/Program Files/Internet Explorer/Uninstall Information.

Now Edit - Select All - Cut all files.

Open "Old uninstall" folder and paste the files.

You will now be able to install all the troublesome components.

If everything works as expected, you can delete the "Old Uninstall" folder
and the files you moved.
