Unable to hear any audio

I downloaded and installed a package called "SoundTaxi" (MP3 conversion
device). It failed and corrupted several drivers such as my Sigmatel C-major
Audio and my Philips DVD. I successfully restored those. It also corrupted
a driver for "Plug and Play Software Device Enumerator" version 5.1.2600.2180

I tried to reinstall this but can't find it.

Bottom line - my computer no longer plays any sound. I get messages that
the drivers are enabled but not started. THe Plug and Play enumerator is
apparently gone and is probably a piece I need to get well again.

Any ideas greatly appreciated!

Don't you happen to have a System Restore Point prior to the installation of
SoundTaxi that you could roll back to?
(From the Start menu: Help_and_Support | Undo_changes_to_your_computer...)

(You won't lose any documents, but you may have to reinstall programs that
you installed or updated after that Restore Point.)

I tried that but the Software Enumerator file is still gone and no sound. I
think I may have the answer. Annoyances.com has a post that details
obtaining a SWENUM.inf and a SWENUM.SYS file and reinstalling. I'll give it
a try.
Thanks.
