I am using XP on a HP Laptop which seems to have a few strange settings

Thee is no obvious "Add connection"

All references to dial up are greyed out - it is adamant it wants me to set
up on a LAN

When i go to download the ISPs from the special number XP uses it decides it
can't do it and without giving an error message it just asks me if i want to
try again

I want to either get round this and somehow dial up the number that allows
me to dial into an ISP temporarily using connection wizard - long enough to
create a connection

or to transfer the settings from another computer that works on dial up

or i could download a connection creator to another pc and use my pen stick
to transfer the program over

I can't get anywhere - 3 hrs yesterday - aggggghhhhhh

Any help appreciated

You left out how you connect to the Internet (probably dialup? or DSL?) and
the name of your ISP. For the greyed out settings, see:

This looks like exactly what i was looking for. Will try when i get home

To answer, i was trying to create a dial up until Boadband get round to
putting the line in and it wasn't letting me do it

Thanks
