Unable to Get Past System Initialization

Hello,
My system will not boot up. The error message says I have installed new
software or hardware that I should uninstall. It will not start because my
system would be damaged if it did start. I have tried starting it is safe
mode and have been able to do so. What are my options? Someone please help.

"Last Known Good Configuration" is another item on the safe mode start menu

Thanks Mark for your reply, however I did try that option. It didn't work
either.Any other suggestions?

You should uninstall SP2, if present, from the Recovery Console prompt, and
do a Repair setup of XP
