Right-click on the desktop Internet Explorer icon and select:
Properties > Advanced and place a check next to
"Enable third-party browser extensions", then click "Apply".

I have downloaded the latest adobe reader. Still the problem is there. Any
more help would be appreciated.

To download a pdf file you have to right click on the hotlink and select
Save Target.... Clicking on the link will just open it..

Thanks. It worked. I right clicked on the link and choose ' save target
as..'.
