Unable to delete Word document

I created a document in Word in Office XP, now every time I open Word this document appears. I have attempted to delete this document but have been unsuccessful. Any ideas

Does the document appear in what should be your blank
document, or does it open up in addition to a blank
document?

If it just opens by itself, search for your Normal.dot
file and rename it. If it opens in addition to a blank
document, search for all folders named "startup" and
remove the file from any startup folder you find.
