Unable to delete unread messages that have been read

The "Unread Messages" folder is showing three messages all the time. I got
these messages from an AOL mail account I tried to set up in WLMD. I was able
to recieve but not send. My mistake was to delete the AOL mail account after
much frustration, before deleting these 3 messages that were really just junk
anyway. Now they are always present and I am not able to delete them or drag
them to another folder, I keep getting an error telling me I cannot do those
things. Is there a way to clear these messages.

Thanks

Hi Steve,

I use Vista beta and have a similar problem.
Namely, I cannot delete already read mail/messages from Inbox,
and I cannot find any thing on the site you directed "oneerc" to.

It sounds like your Deleted Items folder may be corrupted. Try this.

Try navigating to your message store folder, open the Deleted Items
folder and delete its contents (with Windows Mail closed), then reopen
Windows Mail and see if the problem is fixed. If you don't know where
your Message Store folder is located, open Windows Mail and click
Tools/Options/Advanced tab, then click on the Maintenance button
followed by the Store Folder button. Use the tab key to highlight the
path to the Store Folder and press Ctrl+C to copy the path to the
clipboard. Then click Start/Run and paste (Ctrl+V) the file path into
the address bar and it will open Windows Explorer to your Store Folder.
Now look under "Local Folders" for your Deleted Items folder, open it
and delete the contents.

That's the OE6 way. I have no idea if that will work in Vista. Only the
files are in the directory, so wiping them is not the answer, I don't think.
Its an issue with the database I suspect.

Well, the previous issue was not for Vista, which is why I directed him to
the other NG.

I don't know what could be the problem or solution for this in Windows Mail.
I suspect the database may have gotten corrupted somehow or that there are
unresolved bugs that are doing this.

Your version is beta 2 I believe:

X-Newsreader: Microsoft Windows Mail 6.0.5384.4

and I suspect you won't see this in later builds.

Thanks Jim,

I tried this way but it's blocked, I cannot lip over the "security
permission"
which I gave it myself, but this procedure available in Win XP it's
obviously /
must be bugged in Vista Beta 2.
I tried also Regedit but here my "expertise" ends.
We'll see what Vista team comes up with... sooner or later because I'm
not alone with this nuisance.

Thanks

Hi Steve,

Thanks for helping to solve this problem. You're correct this is
a bug in "Inbox" or it may be corrupted.
My Vista is Beta 2 Build 5384 ( installed as upgraded from XP Pro).

Thanks,
Jdr
