I am running a number of XP Pro networked PC's on a W2k
Domain Server. The client PC's have difficulty deleting
files and get an error saying the files are open or unable
to find the file. Permissions are all set correctly.
Although the users are able to cut the file and paste to
their C: drive and then delete.
Any ideas please.

Regards,

PaB.

How do I get the Hotfix for 811492?

Contact Microsoft Product Support Services, as described in the
Knowledge Base article:

It May Take 35 Seconds to Delete Files over the Network
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=811492

Hotfixes are meant to solve specific problems and don't go through the
same testing procedures that regular Windows code does. For that
reason, they aren't available from any other source, and Microsoft
only gives them to people who have the specific problem that the
hotfix addresses.

When you contact Microsoft Product Support Services:

1. Tell them that you have the problem described in KB article 811492.
2. Request the hotfix.
3. Ask them to waive the charge for the support call, as described in
the article.
4. Don't ask for help with any other issue.
