unable to delete message

I have Outlook 2002 and Windows XP. I attempted to send an email with
attached photos which were larger than I realized (45MB). I received a
failure notice email message that is 126 MB! When I click on the message to
read or delete it, Outlook freezes and goes to "Not Responding".

Any suggestions how I can get rid of this message? Thank you.

File - Work Offline.
Wait a moment or two.
Try to delete message from the Outbox.
If it still fails, File - Exit.
Restart Outlook and make sure it stays offline if it asks.
Try and delete the message from the Outbox.

Thanks F.H. I went off-line, waited, still hung up Outlook when I click on
that message. Closed Outlook, actually rebooted computer, opened Outlook
(still Off-line) and it is still hanging up - not going to "not responding"
now however, just the hourglass continually (have waited 30 minutes now
thinking it might just be slow due to file size.

So, any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Turn off the Reading Pane, then select the message and hold Shift while
pressing Delete.
