unable to delete any messages

last week I had to send Dell my laptop for a problem with my screen. I
removed my harddrive before I shipped to Dell. I have now reinstalled my
harddrive and am able to receive new e-mails. However, I am not able to
delete ANY messages. I have read other threads and did try to download the 32
bit patch but it didn't work. Any suggestions?

If the hotfix failed to load that is probably because you have Vista SP1
installed, the hotfix is already included in it.

Get WMUtil from http://www.oehelp.com/WMUtil/Default.aspx
Read the instructions.

Run WMUtil with WM closed

WMUtil should do the job for you?

I tried this and it didn't help. Any other suggestions before I just stop
communicating via e-mail????? Any help would be appreciated

The only remaining fix is to upgrade to the newer Windows Live Mail:
http://download.live.com/wlmail
It will automatically import all your Windows Mail stuff.

what is the difference between Windows Mail and Live Mail? Will I keep my
same e-mail address? Will I keep my contact list and my previously deleted
files and sent messages?

As I said, Windows Live Mail will automatically import ALL your
Windows Mail stuff, which includes your email account, contacts, mail folders
and any messages in those folders. Furthermore, Windows Mail remains
functional so you can always go back to it. The best way to find out the
differences is to try it out. If it turns out you don't like it, merely uninstall it.
