Unable to convert VOB files to MP4

Hi, I have XP home edition with sp2.
I was trying to convert VOB files(decrypted) and Dat files to mp4 for mobile
mp4 player useing Blaze Videomagic.
After about 18% of conversion, an error message comes up "encoder.exe has
encounterd a problem and needs to close". Then it goes on to send an error
message to Microsoft.
Can anybody help?
Thanks

manipulating video is one of the most demanding things a pc can be asked to
do. You will need very fast hard disks preferably in a RAID, as much memory
as you can possibly afford and a very fast processor or dual-core. If you
have all of these in place the conversion process will still be slow for a
moderately long piece of video-showing just how demanding the process is. If
you don't have all these things the problem is probably your hardware cannot
keep pace with the requirements of the program. Take a look at the website
for the developers of VideoMagic-they may have support or a FAQ list
