The occurence described below has started happening again, after the problem
appeared to have been solved. I've checked and the WZC is disabled.
Any further ideas?

Each time I start up Windows XP I get a message in the bottom right corner
of
the screen, saying "Unable to connect to network drive."
I suspect it's to do with my pre-wireless networking set up, but I'd like
to
know how to stop the message coming up.
I'd be grateful for any help.

Disable the Wireless Zero Configuration Service,
Start > Run... services.msc; drill down to WZC, R/Click and choose
disable
This assumes you don't use a wifi connection anymore ?

- Click Start / Run {OK}
- Type these commands:
net use /persistent:no {Enter}
net use * /del /yes {Enter}

This should fix your problem.

Start > Run gets me a choice of "services.msc" or "msconfig" or further
choices on Browse.
Which do I choose?

Neither. You type
cmd
then you click OK.
