Unable to connect 2 PCs/XP using cross-over cable

Trying to share files between two pcs with xp using a
crossover cable. I assumed that this was simple to do
with xp but when i try to use the network wizard it only
has options to connect via serial, parallel or infrared
ports--not ethernet ports.

What am i missing here?

You might be using the wrong wizard. You want the "Network Setup
Wizard", not the "New Connection Wizard". Click Start | All Programs
| Accessories | Communications | Network Setup Wizard.
