Unable to change video files associated program

Hi all,

On my Win XP Pro I tried to end the " marriage" of the video files .mpg,
..mpeg and .avi with Windows Media Player 9, and associate them with MV2
Player, with no success:
I started with "Open With", "Choose Program", and checked the "Always use
the selected program to open this kind of file". It didn't help: the icons
for these files remain the WMP icon, and the next time I double-clicked the
file - WMP came up.
I went to "File Types" in "Folder Options", and there, for the said file
extensions, it says that MV2 Player is the program that opens them, with the
appropriate icon. But if I click the "Change..." button -- in the resulting
dialog box the WMP is highlighted and there is a grayed checkmark in the
"Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" box.

Can anyone please help me impose the divorce?

Thanks,

Koko

i know WMP has an options menu where you can select the
file types to open (Tools -> Options -> File Types Tab). i
would look in there and uncheck anything you dont want
associated with WMP9.
