My Toshiba Tecra 8000 running win xp pro w/ sp1 reacently
suffered some sort of serious malfunction. On attempting
to boot, it would just get to the Windows XP Pro boot
screen when a Stop error would flash, then the comper
would re boot. I tried to reinstall windows, however when
i booted from cd, it gave me another stop screen, saying
that there was an error in NTFS.sys (i learned from a KB
article that the exact error message refered to an error
in the file system) after giving up on recovering the
data, i would like to format the hard drive and start
over. However i cannot boot from CD (it gives me the NTFS
error) and booting from floppy won't let me even see the C
drive, and since it is a laptop hard drive, i cannot put
into another machine and try to recover/repair it...any
suggestions or do i have an 8lb paper weight?

Adam, it sounds like you have some faulty hardware in your laptop.
You will need to contact Toshiba for repairs.
