unable to boot Win XP

-----Original Message-----
every time I try to boot Win XP, it hangs. I have hit F8
multiple times and tried the various boot options and
nothing works. When I choose the command prompt option,
it starts loading various drivers; when it attempts to
load driver "mup.sys", the system hangs every time. I
can't figure out any way to get the system to do any type
of boot up to find out the problem. I don't have any type
of Win emergency boot disks.

What are my options?

Thanks-

have you removed all hardware peripherals and tried each
advanced option and user choice?

if so you could open case and remove all pci cards and
pare ram to one stick and try booting to all advanced
options choices and user choices.

after that you could make the xp boot floppies via
article 310994(make sure you make the correct one home or
pro and pre or post sp1)

and try recovery console and chkdsk /r and 307545

after that without a more specific error message your
looking at repair or parallel installation or new install
leave file system intact and overwrite windows folder

how do I access and run the "recovery console"?

how can I get chkdsk /r to work since I can't even get the
operating system to boot properly?
