Unable to add printer

I have XP Professional. I am the admin on the machine.
I cannot add a priner in the Pinter and Faxes CP. In
fact, the wizard won't launch nor are any icons in the
window. I can, however, use my printer. I have tried to
drag and drop a network printer into the window with no
success.

Any ideas?
 
Ensure your print spooler is running. From the command prompt, type

net start spooler

and hit enter

Now try the Add Printer Wizard once more.

I just had the same problem on a new Dell. Upon the
advice of Dell I reverted the system to an earlier date.
I now get the Print Wizard and can add a printer.
HOWEVER, the printer does not show up in the "Printers"
window. It had been added because I can print a test
page and it shows up it in WordPerfect list of printers
to select from....
Did you receive any replies that may shed some light on
this ?
