hi.
i have bought a wireless router to enable both my desktop computer and my
tablet pc to access the internet and to share files between them.
after connecting the cables, the installation manual instructs me to launch
IE and go to http://192.168.1.1 (which it calms to be the default IP address
of the router). but instead of the configuration page, the 'Cannot find
Server' error message appeared.
i checked the FAQ section and it says that 'ensure that your pc and the
router are on the same network segment'. how can i verify this?
also, it says that 'ensure that your pc is using an ip address within the
range of 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.254 and thus compatible with the router's
default ip address of 192.168.1.1'. i run ipconfig and find out that my
'Autoconfiguration IP Address is 169.254.120.254. how can i modify it to
comply with the instructions?
(when i ping 192.168.1.1, 'Destination host unreachable' is rendered.)
please tell me how to fix these problems. thanks.
