Static routing between 2 home routers - how to?

N

Nick Alexander

I have just added a wireless router to my existing ADSL modem/router on
my home network. The problem I now have is that my printer is ont he
wireless segment (192.168.0.20) and computers on the non-wireless
segment (e.g. 192.168.1.100) cannot see the printer. I tried to
enable a static ip route on the 192.168.1.1 router set up as:

Destination ip address: 192.168.0.20 (The printer's ip address)
Forward (Gateway) ip address: 192.168.1.2 (The wireless router's
address on the non-wireless segment)
netmask: 255.255.255.255 (only send for address .20)

But this didn't work. Can anyone tell me what I should be doing?

Regards,
Nick Alexander

Hi

As is, if you want to stay with one coherent Network, you need to configure
the Wireless Router as an Access Point.

Here how, http://www.ezlan.net/router_AP.html

Alternately, if your Modem/Router can be set as a Modem only, you can set it
as a Modem, and use your Wireless Router as the main Router with all
computers connected to it.
