Unable to access Task Manager

Control Alt Delete does not work.
Clicking on Task Manager from my Task Bar does not work.
I rcv'd a msg that states...Task Manager is in use by another user. What
other user? I have ran virus and threat checks...my pc is clean.
What does that mean? I am the administrator.
I have windows xp. Does anyone know what I can try?

Update your antivirus software and run a full system scan.

Update whatever anti-spyware applications that you have and run a full
system scan with each one.

Chances are that you have...
winupdates.exe is a process associated with the Rbot Worm. It is an IRC
backdoor trojan giving remote users access to your system.
and/or
taskmanager.exe also added by a WORM.

Neither winupdates.exe or taskmanager.exe are desireable programs.

Taskmgr.exe is the real Task Manager file. C:\WINDOWS\system32\taskmgr.exe
