I did a new install with NTFS but the partitions are
still not accessible. However I know that the files are
still there because if I go to the partition's
properties, Tools, Backup, here I can see the partitions
with their right names and also the content. But I still
don't know how to regain access to my partitions.

I think your data is there and C just doesn't recognize
it because FAT32
cannot recognize an NTFS partition. You can either
convert the drive to
NTFS or do a new install on this partition and format
NTFS during XP setup.
The preferred way would be a new install as conversion
will leave you with a
very small cluster size.
