Unable to access files on XP Home PC from other computers

I have a wireless network with a PC running XP Home and two other laptops,
one running XP professional and the other Windows 2000. The PC can access and
write files to the laptops and the laptops can both access and write files to
each other.

However when I try to access files on the PC from either of the laptops I
get a message saying "access is denied".

I have setup various user accounts on both laptops and the PC and always get
the same problem.

XP Home only allows guest access to network shares which means that both the
share and folder/NTFS permissions must include everyone. Users can not
authenticate as themselves to a share on an XP Home computer like they can
to Windows 2000 or XP Pro when simple file sharing is disabled. The link
below should also be helpful. --- Steve

Thanks for this. I've read the various articles but they havent enlightened
me. Two further questions:

a) How do I check that the share and folder/NTFS permissions include everyone?

b) I cant tell if simple file sharing is enabled. In the Window
Exploere/Tools/Folder Option/View window the Simple File Sharing Enabled
button isnt present. Is it meant to be?

Many thanks again

Alan
