Access Denied on Shared Folder

Hi,

I have 1 desktop PC and 2 laptops all running XP Pro. The desktop is wired
to a wireless router/modem and both laptops connect to it via wireless.

Simple File Sharing is switched on for all PCs and the Guest Account is
activated on all with the same password.

All PCs are part of the same Workgroup (HOMENW)

From the Desktop PC I can view the shared folders of both laptops.
From both laptops I can use the printer which is connected to the Desktop PC
via USB.

I can see the Desktop PC shared folder from both laptops, however I cannot
access it from either laptop, receive the message "You might not have
permission to use this netowrk resource blah blah..... Access Denied".

Help, what am I doing wrong ??

(I have turned all firewalls off to see if that helped and no luck).

On one of the XP Pro computers enable auditing of logon events in Local
Security Policy to see if there are any type three logon failures or other
events that may help determine what the problem is. Also guest access
requires that "everyone" has share and NTFS/folder permissions. You could
disable simple file sharing to see the security tab of a folder that is on
an NTFS volume to see the security permissions. Otherwise consider not using
simple file sharing and create matching users accounts/passwords on all the
computers. The links below explain more on share and NTFS/folder
permissions. --- Steve

applies to XP also.
