get a Win 98 Boot disk, boot up, and use FDisk to remove the non-dos
partition(s)

All depends on how you installed it. If it was an upgrade
say from 98 and you chose to keep the old OS files then all
you have to do is go into add/remove and do an uninstall

But you can't do that if XP is installed - there's no DOS option.

Sure there is. It's called the Command Prompt (command console), under
Accessories.
