umax powerlook 1000

cannot install this scanner on any XP machine.....umax
says I need to update the usb controller driver,but I
cannot find this in Microsoft updates......If I go to
motherboard manufact. sites,they refer me back to
Microsoft.........I'm at a loss.....any ideas??

The USB Controller is part of the motherboard and as such the drivers should
be installed with the installation of the operating system... provided it is
operating correctly and the operating system has detected it. Even a USB
Controller card should be correctly detected and the drivers installed
automatically.

Is your USB Controller saying it is not correctly installed in Device
Manager?
