how can you type something in word 2007 and then read and edit in word 2003?

Click the Office button (upper left corner... roughly equivalent to the File
menu in Word 2003), Save As, Word 97-2003 Document.

Alternatively, you can install the Office 2007 Compatibility Pack on the
Word 2003 computer.

Hi La Shawn,

You can use Office Files Button=>Save as
and choose Word 97-2003 as the document type if the folks with Word 2003 don't have the Word 2007 compatibility pack installed. The
compatibility pack allows folks with Word 2000, 2002 and 2003 to open and save Word 2007 format documents (although it doesn't add
the Word 2007 features to those versions).
