Typing accents in Access

Dee

I have a database that I need to enter many different names in different
languages. How would I type the accents for these names. In other office
products you can insert the symbol or type the code and press Alt X. Is there
a way to put the accents in the names in access. I am using Access 2003.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Best regards,

Dee

You could paste it from the Character Map application, but easier than that
would be to use the Windows feature that lets you enter a character by
holding down the Alt key while typing the appropriate 4-digit code on the
numeric keypad (assuming you're using a keyboard with a separate numeric
keypad). For example, these key combination come in handy for writing in
French:

ALT+0233 é
ALT+0232 è
ALT+0234 ê
ALT+0224 à
ALT+0244 ô
ALT+0231 ç

The Character Map application will tell you what key codes to use.

Just note that NumLock must be on to use those shortcuts.
