type at a 45 degree angle

Does anyone know how can I set in type the year "2004" at
a 45 degree angle above the horizontal, and again at a 45
degree angle below the horizontal?

Paul,

You can use WordArt. After you type in 2004 and insert, click on the object
and format the layout something other than "in line with text" you will then
get handles appearing that will allow you to rotate through any angle.

To get a good 45° angle, there is a right angle in Basic Shapes in the
AutoShapes (on the Drawing toolbar). Draw one, then right-click on it
and make height & width equal (probably 3 to 5"). You can flip it
horizontally to make it going the other way. Anyway, you can use the
long side as a guide to rotate your AutoText to match the angle.

I should have said right-click on the triangle, in the drop down list
select Format AutoShape and click the Size tab.
