How can I rotate a few printed words to a 45 degree angle?

This may not be the most efficient way, but you could use word art to create
the words you want and then orient the box on the page the way you want it.

Like I said, there may be better suggestions...

You cannot rotate and have it still editable, but see

Thanks for your help, Kyle. But there is no green rotator on a box. When
writing in a box, how can you rotate the box to 45%?

WordArt is by default inserting In Line With Text. Change the wrapping style
to, say, Square or In Front of Text and you will be able to rotate it.
