Text Direction in Tables (Other than 90 degrees)

Fred

I have a table with one wide column and ten narrow columns with check boxes
in them. The text in the headings for these narrow columns will need to be
rotated to keep the columns narrow.

I have seen similar tables (done in Excel, I think) that have the column
headings at 45 degrees in a slanted cell. Is it possible to do that in Word?
I know how to rotate to 90 degrees, but not 45.

I'm using Office 2003 and XP Professional.

No, in Word you're limited to 90 degrees right or left. Sorry. But you can
embed an Excel sheet.

You can rotate the text, but you can't rotate its bounding box, which means
that the WordArt objects could not be inline, and you also won't be able to
use cell borders to the desired effect, though I suppose diagonal lines
(from the borders dialog/toolbar) could be used. But it's certainly easier
just to rotate the text 90 degrees.
