Hi

I had problems with XP home edition and installed xp with recovery cd and
then could fix the problem with orginal xp. But now i have two XP:s..how can
i get rid of the new xp?
Thanks for the help

By having two XP's, do you perhaps mean that when you boot up you see a
prompt to choose which operating system to load? There is a quirk with
Windows that even if you format the drive on install, the boot.ini will list
both the old and the new OS.

When you pick the wrong one, it won't load.

IF this is your situation, you can edit the boot.ini file.

1. set the properties on c:\boot.ini to disable 'read only'
2. make a copy of boot.ini and save it as a backup. Call it boot.bak or
something
3. Open the boot.ini with notepad and edit out the extra line. Save your
changes
4. reset the properties to 'read only'

You can also edit the boot.ini from the Startup and Recovery section of
System Properties > Advanced.
