Two XP installations/ user account access

T

TIA

Hi,
I reinstalled a clean fresh copy of XP Pro on top of an
existing one by mistake. Now, the old XP installation
(number 1) had all of the user accounts with the user
data inside the Documents and Settings/USER folder. The
new XP installation (number 2) is using the same
Documents and Settings folder to store data for its own
accounts. I cant access my number 1 XP from the boot menu
(it says hal.dll is missing) neither can I access the
folders from inside XP installation 2 because the
accounts were password secured under installation 1. I
tried many different ways to fix it by changing the
boot.ini in many ways but it didnt work. I even tried to
create an account in installation 2 that has the same
name for an account in installation 1 but windows
automatically differentiated them by adding a ".Windows"
after the account created in 2 and leaving the 1 account
as it is. email me back at (e-mail address removed) if you have
any more questions.I am in deep need of any kind of help.
Please!
Thank you.
