Are there in fact two separate copies of XP Home installed, or is
there just two entries in the boot configuration?

Use Start - Run - MSCONFIG.
Go to the BOOT.INI tab and click on the button to "Check all boot
paths".

If that does not resolve the issue then you do have two copies
installed and need to take more drastic action as per the response
from "clem".

Good luck
