1) Set default "Folder Options/View" to "Details", but it
keeps returning to Icon view.

2) Almost every time I try to delete a downloaded folder,
tells me "Access Denied". Have to go down one folder to
delete that one and then the original one deletes.

Any help on these problems on an new computer with XP
Home?

1. Go to Tools>Folder Options>View tab. Click the option to set all
folders like the current folder.

2. By "downloaded folder" I take it you actually mean a file. A folder
would contain a file and I assume that is what you are talking about. When
you download some files and/or applications, like an anti-virus program or a
file manager application, you are directed to put it in a folder or
directory. Sometimes the installer will make this folder/directory for you.
You get a dialog like "Quickie Virus Killer 2.0 will create the directory
QVKiller in your Program Files directory. Is this OK?" You indicate a yes
and the file is downloaded into that directory. There should be a removal
tool installed by the application. This is common, and now, expected from
good, well built software these days. Use the removal tool to uninstall the
software and it will usually remove the folder it installed itself in as
well. If not, you may have to manually delete it.

I have similar probs. I have all my folders set to
details view and also for Windows to remember each
folder's view since there are a few I like in Icons view
but Windows does not always obey this. Thank you Bill
Gates. Even when I use the "Close" feature vs. "X"ing it
closed it still does not always remember my settings. It
does not appear to work 100%.
