"Two" Update Questions I need to ask,

H

Hi:
My machine, HP is pre-installed with XP home edition.
After the installation of SP 1, my computer got slow-down, then I never had
a desire/reason
to install any of 'update' since.

However, recently I started to concern over 'security' issue, because one
of my family
members participating eBay/Pay Pal. Then, in my second thought, I decided
to install
at least some of 'Security' part of 'Update.'

There are many, many 'update' I need to install because I never 'update'
since SP 1.
There are 'two' questions I need to ask:

(1) Except 'beta' that I already installed, which 'security' update do I
need to install in order
to protect my eBay/Pay Pal account and its activities?
(2) Is there any way to purchase SP 2 by mail? In my recollecltion, back
SP 1, I obtained SP 1
by a mail paid $10.00. Is there still existing this mail-service, ...
buying SP 2 directly from MS?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Wat up Haru:

Answer to #1: You should always install all of the security update issued by
Microsoft. You need to keep your system up-to-date because viruses and other
baddies can easily infect your system if you do not take precautions. You
should first update your computer to Service Pack 2. I also recommend that
you install a Antivirus software to better protect your computer. Some
popular products include TrendMicro
(http://www.trendmicro.com/home/default.asp), Norton (http://symantec.com/)
and McAfee (http://www.mcafee.com/us/). If you want a free one, then use AVG
(http://www.grisoft.com/doc/1). In order to protect against eBay and such,
you need to be aware of a method hackers use called phishing
(http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/p/phishing.html). I suggest you let your
family member know about it so you won't be victims of it.

Answer to #2: Yes you can order a CD from Microsoft containing SP2. A better
method would be to just download it from their website.

hopefully others can assist you as well. Peace

Hi:
Many, many thanks for your responses. I really appreciate it.

My computer has 'System Works' that includes 'Anti-Virus.'
Also, I purchased 'Spy Sweeper,' as concerning over 'Security,'
because of eBay/Pay Pal activities. However, I still do NOT know
whether I should install this, 'Spy Sweeper,' because 'Beta' I installed
yesterday that could cover all of 'current' security issues? Just, I do NOT
know, then just keep it on the table, in the meanwhile.
Also, I plan to install more 'Security' by downloading and CD I just ordered
through the site you provided. I paid just $1.75 for SH. Thanks!

What is you opinion on 'Spy Sweeper?'
I need your opinion as to 'Spy Sweeper,' because I do not like to make
a mistake by installation of 'Spy Sweeper.'

In regard to 'eBay Security,' ... I just downloaded the site you provided me
and already I'm using it. For this, I am VERY grateful that you read my
post
and gave me the site.

Thanks,

Thanks,
My opinion of Spysweeper: 100%, running and updated continuously.
My opinion of System Works: 0%
I would not use Norton/Symantec products except for GoBack which
apparently they have not modified since the days of Roxio.
For Antivirus, I use AVG; for drive backup I use CasperXP and ABF for
OE mail.
Other anti-malware I use: Spybot, Spyware Blaster, AdAware,
usoftantispy/antivirus on line scans.
