Donna in Idaho \(remove invalid\)

I'm updating my website which was first designed using FP 2000, I'm now
using FP 2003. Where do I get the graphic that says Created & Managed by
Front Page 2003?

The web counter at the bottom of the page says 0123456789 - when I delete
that & then insert web counter using the number (7126) that is on my
published web site - it reverts back to the 0123456789 - how do I get it to
keep the correct #?

Thanks for all your help.

Make that 3 questions - last week I asked how to add borders around cells.
Someone posted to right click in the cell - doesn't work - the border
section in the cell properties is greyed out. Some of the pages on my
website have the borders I want - but when I click on cell properties on
that page - the border section is greyed out! I'm completely confused.
What am I missing?

I finally figured out answers to my questions except the one about the
graphic for FP 2003. I went ahead and published it tonight. Still need to
get some more done, but I needed to get the Project Linus 'stuff' up on my
website - especially the calendar!

Thanks for the help.

Thank you, Kathleen. Now that I have my website published - it seems much
slower loading than it did before. Anything that can be done about that?
Of course, I'm on dial-up which makes it worse.

Yeah, but it's free & I don't want to move it, 'cause then I would have to
start all over with search engines, etc. Or, at least I assume that is
true?? I've had it on Tripod for a few years, seems like it was slower now
since I've updated - maybe just my imagination.

If you google; quilts linus - you don't even make the top 20 results pages, infact I couldn't find you unless I googled or Yahooed; quilts + linus + idaho - then you come up on the first page.

Funny thing was yesterday I was trying to find information on the internet on Linus's security blanket...did it have a name? (none that I could find)...but I stumbled on the Linus project .... coincidence? wooooo...

If you are serious about your business, get OFF (!!!) of the free websites
as soon as possible. Personally, I figure that if someone does not care
about their business enough to spend $10-$20 a month for a real domain and
host, I would not be very inclined to buy from them. And although Google may
not say so, I suspect that having the.tripod in the domain will really hurt
any search engine placement.

We have several domains and two main sites, plus one domain that is just
used for a discussion forum. All but the main one (the yahoo store) are
hosted by Lunarpages. For like $8 a month you can get a decent host that
includes FP and a lot of other nice things such as the phbb discussion
forum. Two of our small info sites and forums are on this plan

Very good point. I cannot prove it, but I suspect that having a borked
domain, like quilts.freewebsite.com really hurts search engine placement.
And many people, like me, avoid any site with popup ads etc like the plague.

Our main product is solar electric systems. Do a search on any major engine
for "solar electric", and we are in the top 2-5 results out of:
Results 1 - 10 of about 2,460,000 for solar electric. (0.39 seconds)
(Google, we are #3)

I agree. I hardly ever go to a web that's on Tripod, Geocities...any of those free popup laden sites. You're right...10 bucks a month ain't much to spend for a real domain, a much better business decision IMO.

I hate having to run AdAware after an unintentional visit to those sites too - if a biz can't afford a few bucks to gain my business...they won't.

I don't 'have' a business.

Project Linus is a 100% volunteer non-profit organization with no money
except from donations. If you're not aware of Project Linus - we make and
distribute security blankets to kids who are traumatized through illness,
injury, or otherwise are in need. Not much money to spend on websites. I
spend my money on blanket making materials! However, if someone wanted to
donate the cost of a 'real' domain, I might look at that very kindly!! :)

We were just sidetracking...not necessarily talking about your business/project.

but...

I bet you could get almost any local business (maybe even a local isp) to donate 120 bucks a year...or free web space...to a good cause.

Heck, we had a garage sale last week for a non-profit I volunteer for, we had everyone clean their garage out and bring it to one place...we made 875.00 smackers in used clothes in 6 hours...gave the stuff that didn't sell to Good Will. Do that once a year and you have your real domain for free and 600 bucks left to make quilts.

|
