Hi,
I am from a country where it's cheaper to get connectected through 2
ISPs rather than buying 1 huge bandwith from 1 ISP.
So I have 2 ISP, A, and B. Also, I have 4 computers: 1, 2, 3, 4
My plan is simple.
Computer 1 and 2 has 2 LAN cards each. Computer 1 is connected to ISP A
and the hub. Computer 2 is connected to ISP B and the hub.
Computer 3 and 4 each has only 1 LAN card that connects them to a HUB.
Then, I run home or small office network wizard. On computer 2, I said
that this computer connect to the internet, the other computers connect
to the internet through this computer.
Then I run the wizard on computer 3 and 4. I choose this computer
connect through the internet through another computer.
Finally I run the wizzard on computer 1. The wizard tell me that there
is an computer sharing internet connection sharing on computer 2.
Should we use the connection. I choose no. I then choose that computer
1 connect directly to the internet the other computers have their own
connections.
Tada.... Everything seems to work perfectly.
Then I notice one thing. If I unplug the LAN from computer 2, computer
1 that is also directly connected to the internet cannot access
internet. Some IP checking shows that computer 1 actually connect to
the internet using the internet connection in comptuer 2.
How can this be? I explicitly tell the wizard in computer 1 that I do
not want to use the internet connection in computer 2.
