TweakVI

After downloading, at Jane's advice Frameworkx to get rid of the desktop
icon arrows the program stopped my wireless connection dead, so I delete it,
ran a restore and got the connection back, then searched and found TweakVI
from www.totalidea.com, just what we all want.

It just like that old XP teak program. Took those arrows away and my
connection purrs on unharmed.

I used FxVisor, and it didn't affect my wireless connection..

Hello Ian,

If you are sure that FxVisor was responsible for your wireless problem,
perhaps you could let the author Rich know via contact details on his
blog:

http://www.frameworkx.com/contentblogdetail.aspx?blog=56&id=636

It may just have been coincidence - I have not heard of anyone else losing
their wireless connection after using FxVisor.

Yes, it must have been a coincidence. All that program needs to do is make
a registry edit. There is no way it could have had anything to do with loss
of connectivity unless it was deliberate malware.

you are asking for trouble using tweakvi
it plays on the GOOD name of tweakui to try and get users.

it is a useless problems that causes problems.
nothing in the free version that is not available in vista already.
you have to ay to get anything possible useful

and the author has a bad attitude.

Lots of people are, dare I say it, lazy. They do not want to do more than one tick.

TweakVI is just like the one I used in XP for years and it gives the same easy catch all changes people desire.

It is not the bogy man you make out. But its for folk to use or not.

Yes folks FxVisor did knock out my wireless?

I don't know about his attitude, but as long as you've purchased a license from them, support becomes very good. This is only reasonable. Why should he spend all his time supporting people who aren't supporting his product with their money, and who more than probably have no intention of ever buying a license?

Your comment that Vista can do anything the free version can do was pulled out of your bottom. It is not possible to remove the shortcut arrow from a stock-Vista using Microsoft tools. And there are many other things the free version can do that are not possible using MS-provided tools.

By the way, the author(s) of TweakVI live and work in New Zealand, so it's a little difficult to communicate with them via e-mail. But not impossible.

They aren't out to give a "free" product to the whole world. They are, after all, in business to make a few bucks.

I do advise anyone purchasing a license to make sure to save the email they send which contains your activation key, user name, and password. Otherwise, it will be very difficult to recover them from the seller (but again, not impossible).

Personally, I am looking forward to Automatic System Optimizer for Vista to be released. The product is very good, and will only be better if ASO is ever released in a native Vista build.

the code for removing the shortcut arrow from shortcuts has caused numerous people problems.
use it at your own risk.
you have been warned.
