tv wonder athlon barton

I just put together a KT400 AthlonXP 2500+ Barton system. I am using
a TV Wonder PCI card with MMC and MDAC 7.9, driver 1.11.0.0 and
directX 9. The PC check failed the MMX, processor speed and ram tests
and the program is using 99% of my cpu resources when I watch tv. Has
anyone heard of incompatabilities with the new AMD chip or an ABIT
KT400 motherboard?

I've another KT400 on an Asus board that is not correctly working.
Not problems as serious as yours but seems to me is a chipset problem.
See my other post on this group. No solution yet encountered.

Cristian.

I just got home and it started up again, so it's not Nero. I think it
might be a conflict with my Matrox Millenium G450 using 2 monitors.
The problem seems to go away when I switch to one monitor, although
the pc check program still doesn't recognize the cpu as MMX or the ram
as over 64 megs. (I have one gig of ddr400 ram). I did not have this
problem when I was using the same video card and tv wonder on my
dragon board, but I did have lots of other problems.

It seems I have the directX 9b/MMC 7.9 problem conflict that I've seen
elsewhere on this board. I downloaded WinDVR3 and everything is
working fine although I really don't want to pay $80 dollars for it.

If "the pc check program" is ATi's configuration app, you can forget that -
it's notorious for getting things wrong.

The DX 9.0b issue seems to be quite specific: it only affects PAL users with
tuners, and the result is they can't access their TV channels; not at all
like the problems you've described unless there's an MMC 7.9 issue with DX
9.0b I haven't heard about. However, if you did have it, WinDVR wouldn't be
working, either: it apparently affects all TV software using a PAL tuner.
