As an experiment power up her computer then turn off and unplug the monitor
(data and power cable). Does that fix it?

If your TV is near the computer or the TV cable lines, try
moving one thing at a time.

The cable to the TV could be loose or damaged, allowing
stray RF signals in from the computer.

The computer or monitor could have poor shielding. Home
computers are supposed to be FCC Class B, but if you have an
office computer it might be Class A which can have higher RF
emissions.

If it is getting through your antenna wire or cable, better
quality (heavier shielded) cables might fix the problem.

Hi Guys
I should add that our PC's are not networked togather or connected to the
TV.
Thanks for the replies , but no help yet , Getting ready to throw it in the
snow bank and see if that cures it.(ha ha)
Still open for sugestions.
Thanks

What are you plugged into?
Wall?
Power Strip?
UPS?
In all likelyhood if you run power off of a UPS it won't happen anymore
since your computer is not actually drawing power from the outlet. Instead
it draws from the UPS battery which draws from the outlet. As far as WHY
it's doing it I couldn't tell you that but UPS would probably be a good work
around besides being better for your computer to begin with.

Hi again
I have narrowed it down some. If i unplug everything from the PC except the
monitor it is ok.
As soon as i plug anything into mobo the TV goes wacky. mouse , keyboard ,
speakers , don't matter what i plug in it bothers the TV. Am i down to bad
mobo?

Some other ideas to try...

Try booting into the bios and turning on spread spectrum clock mode (not if
you are over clocking).

Do an earth continuity check on the PC. Check that the case is connected to
earth pin of the mains plug. Also check that the earth pin in the wall
socket is connected to earth at the distribution panel of your house.

Hi all
Sorry guys, none of this info has helped me out yet, don't know what to yry
next.
I have tried different monitor and no difference.
Why would it only do it when i plug something in to back of mobo.
Monitor plugs into Video card , soon as i plug any thing into motherboard it
acts up.
Got me stumpes , Tried another ground from mobo hold down screw to case but
no difference there
Open for more sugestions

Poor grounding and non FCC compliance (case, power supply, shielding,
etc) can cause TV interference. When you plug something into the back
of the motherboard, you just created a nice broadcast antenna to
radiate all over the house. If the overall construction of your
machine does not comply with US FCC standards, there isn't much you
can do.

If the machine is still under warranty, take it back. Or else, get
cable TV. That will eliminate the interference since the cable signal
to noise ratio will be much higher. Also, I should mention that some
TVs are cheaply constructed and offer very little in the way of
shielding from outside interference. Again, the solution is cable TV.

Hi all
I have another pc i the house with same case and power supply , different
mobo, and it don't bother TV at all.
I have also had my kids PC in to work on and none of them bother TV.
Just this certian pc,
thanks Carl

LOL
That was a helpful answer.
I don't actally have an answer except to say there is a power leak of some
sort in the box somewhere.

Obviously, maybe the backplane wasn't properly ground to the
mobo, maybe his devices attached have unshielded or damaged
wiring.

But he says he has checked all that, sometimes the easiest
thing is to move on.

You could try adding clip on ferrite beads to all the cables close to where
they leave the case but I'm not that hopeful they will solve the problem
(it's always best to fix these problems at source father than with add-ons).
Tried another ground from mobo hold down screw to case but no difference
there.

Try changing the mains cable? Perhaps the earth lead is faulty/not
connected?

Try checking that the earth pin on the plug is connected to the case of the
PC? Perhaps there is a missing earth strap wire in the PSU itself?

Must be that poor SOYO mobo, I see it is discontinued already.
I don't think a BIOS up date would do anything for that would it?
All you people have had a lot of sugestions so far and nothing has helped ,
maybe jimis right , i need new mobo , I built the PC myself a year ago and
it works great ,
except for this iritateing problem of the tv interfearence.
Still hopeing

True to those of us that build them and have parts all over the place. It's
not so expensive to us. Some people actually go to those sily computer
stores and actually BUY computers, imagine that huh, a little more
expensive. :) <jk>
