Tutorials on HTML email

I need a crash course on sending HTML-formatted email. My first few rounds
of testing show there to be a landmine that is more explosive than trying to
create websites for early versions of Netscape Navigator. Some recipients
see everything just fine, some see everything all wrong, and some don't even
receive it. Can somebody point me to a tutorial somewhere on the web about
HTML email?
