Turning off Word 2007 compatibility checker

I still like to save text files in .rtf mode, and occasionally (when I work
with fields that I fill in with text, from a template) I get the Microsoft
Office Compatibility Checker telling me that there are x errors that might
not work with earlier/newer versions of Word. This is the case even after I
have written over or deleted anything that might be causing this (I think,
the fill-in form fields). Is there any way to turn this thing off?
 
Try Office button, Prepare, Run Compatibility Checker, and remove the check
next to "Check compatibility when saving in Word 97-2003 formats". Does that
do it for you?
