Turning off popup help

[Gustav]

Can anyone tell me how to turn off the popup help displays
in Windows XP Professional? It's driving me crazy! It pops
up at the most inconvenient times. I would like to set it
so that it only displays when I specifically ask for it.

Hi Gustav,

Which popups are you referring to? Are you talking about the little yellow
"balloon" popups that come up?
If so, you can disable them by doing the following.

Go to: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp and
download the Windows XP PowerToy, TweakUI
After you install it, run it (Start - Run - TweakUI)
Click on Taskbar and then uncheck "Enable balloon tips"
Click Ok

Maybe Gustav was talking about that, but I have a similar
but different problem. My annoyance is when I hover my
mouse over a file in Windows Explorer and a yellow box
pops up displaying Type, Size, and Date Modified. Is
there a way to turn this off?

Hi John,

I'm not aware of anyway to turn off the system tooltips. You can turn off
the animation and the fade, but no way to turn off the actual tooltips that
I know.

I have another problem. I want the balloon popup turned back on. When I used to exit my MSMoney program I would get a balloon reminding me I have a file to write to a cd. Now I jsut get a small icon in the task bar. How can I turn back on that balloon??tip

Hi Mr Chirpy,

Try installing the following and making sure the box is checked for Enable
balloon tips and see if that restores the functionality.

Go to: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp and
