Turning figure captions into table, and vice versa

Help! I have documents with both tables and figures, but if I label one with
table, it changes all captions to table, including the figures. Please help,
this is doing my head in and I'm on deadline. Many thanks!
 
Don't try to change one. Delete the existing caption and insert a new one,
selecting Table.
