turn off transition effects as windows open and close

Any idea where to do this?

I can find it in XP easy enough, but the (almost) identical dialog in Vista
(Home Premium) doesn't have 'transition effects' as an option.

I think you mean to go here, right click "Computer" select "Properties" left
side, click "Advanced System Settings" > "Advanced" tab, under Performance,
"Settings". Hope this is what you mean.

Also, right click desktop, select "Personalize", click "Windows Color and
Apearance", near the bottom "Effects"
